The Nurburgring might be Europe's most famous circuit, but American automakers have headed there for years to develop their latest and greatest performance cars. All verified with video, here are 10 of the fastest U.S. cars to lap the 'Ring.
10: 2013 Shelby GT500 – 7:39.28
While the Camaro ZL1 is probably the sweeter handling car, it's hard to argue with 662-HP of supercharged Mustang. The old GT500 was a blunt instrument, but an effective one.

9: 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 – 7:37.7
There is no greater testament to the work that was put in the Camaro Z28 than the fact that it monstered the ZL1's Nurburgring lap, despite being down 75 horsepower. Credit goes to the Z28's top-level Multimatic dampers, carbon ceramic brakes, and sticky Pirelli tires.

8: 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 – 7:29.6
For some reason, Chevy has yet to announce any Nurburgring times for the current Corvette, but it revealed that the new ZL1 ran an impressive 7:29.6. For those not keeping score, that's nearly 12 seconds faster than the old ZL1 and 8.1 seconds faster than the Z28. Of course, that's not surprising given the current Camaro's excellent chassis and the ZL1's 650-hp V8.

7: 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 – 7:26.4
As it turns out, 638 horsepower makes the Corvette ZR1 one monstrously fast machine. With engineer/badass Jim Mero behind the wheel, the 2009 ZR1 posted a 7:26.4. Quick, but not the last you'll see of Mero or the ZR1 here.

6: 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 – 7:22.68
For 2012, the hottest Corvettes got two huge improvements, optional Michelin Pilot Cup tires and Chevy's nifty Performance Traction Management system. The Z06 was 133 horsepower down on the 2009 ZR1, and yet, it still pulled out a sizable gap.

5: 2012 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 – 7:19.63
Cup tires and fancy traction control did wonders for the Z06, but they also brought huge improvements to the ZR1. Once again with Jim Mero behind the wheel, the ZR1 defends its supercar slayer reputation at the 'Ring.

4: 2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1 1LE - 7:16.04
Thanks to ultra-wide tires, functional aero, F1-derived spool-valve dampers, and 650 horsepower, the ZL1 1LE had no trouble setting a blisteringly fast lap around the Nordshleife. And don't forget, it did the job with an old-fashioned six-speed manual.

3: 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 – 7:13.90
Chevy hasn't yet done an official lap time for the Z06 yet, but German publication Sport Auto has. Their 7:13.9 makes it the quickest Corvette ever, and nearly the quickest American car at this track. Now, what will the ZR1 do?

2: 2010 Dodge Viper ACR – 7:12.13
This list might be filled with GM products, but it's Dodge that gets the last two laughs here. When it brought a 2010 Viper ACR to the Nurburgring, it set an astounding 7:12.13, a production car record.
