YouTube is full of creators playing video games and narrating the action, but few are so consistently entertaining as FailRace. I stumbled onto the channel accidentally a few months back when the algorithm finally figured I was a gentleman of a certain age, whose proclivities once included racing, firearms, evasion, and pixelated mayhem. While the channel features all manner of wacky digital motorsport, the real joy comes from the Survive The Hunt Series.
The premise is simple: in GTA V, our narrator gets a small head start and 24 hours of in-game time to survive while being hunted down by a full multi-player lobby. The rules dictate that there's no in-game radar. Everyone must stay within the city limits, and the hunters are restricted to semi-automatic weapons to help even the field. They do get other advantages, though. Blimps, helicopters, and pack mentality, mostly.
Imagine watching Heat from inside Val Kilmer's head, if Kilmer was a well-spoken Englishman. The sneaking around, the car chases, the firefights. Explosions. Every bit of it.
Check out the latest video, Survive The Hunt 17. Just don't blame us when your boss comes asking what you've been up to for the past hour.
