There are countless stunning Ferraris penned by Pininfarina. But the design house has made a few other gems over the years as well. The Fiat 130 is arguably one of the best. Understated and perfectly proportioned, it's a truly great-looking car. This one's been through a full restoration, and now, it's for sale on Craigslist. You should buy it.
Welcome to You Must Buy, our daily look at the cars you really should be buying instead of that boring commuter sedan.
Just under 4500 130 Coupes were built in total, and according to the seller, only around 500 of those came from the factory with a five-speed manual transmission. Power comes from a 165-horsepower 3.2-liter V-6 designed by famed Ferrari engineer Aurelio Lampredi. This particular car was sold new in Verona, Italy and lived in the region up until 2017, when it was purchased and shipped to the US by the current owner, a dealer in San Fransisco.
Before the car was brought Stateside, it was treated to a full restoration. All of the suspension and driveline components were either inspected or replaced as necessary, while any corrosion on the body was addressed. The car was repainted in its original shade of Metallic Mediterranean Blue, and the seats were reupholstered. The five-digit odometer shows 32,966 kilometers, though the seller believes it's rolled over once, meaning the real mileage is 132,966 km, or 82,639 miles.
The car is currently up for sale on Craigslist in Monterey, California with an asking price of $33,975. Pretty cheap considering its drop-dead gorgeous looks and great-sounding powerplant. Personally, I think these cars are a bit under-appreciated in the collector world right now. I would be surprised if they begin to take off in value in the next few years. Right now, though, they remain a solid, under-the-radar buy.
